Whitehaven and it's history

A labor of love!

Whitehaven was built in 1860 and was a Coaching Inn on the old road west from Providence, located on what is now known as Route 44. The old barn still has evidence of it's historic usage.

In the 20th century it was a large chicken farm and a number of the outhouses show signs of its original 'occupants'.

The main house has been lovingly updated and restored to reflect it's former nineteenth century origins. The house sits on 5 acres.

The restoration of 'The Coop'. 'The Coop' was completed in 2009. It was originally the groundsman's house and now is a self contained charming cottage.

A five year plan to restore the outhouses and Barn is well underway. The redesign of the gardens surrounding the Main house, including a delightful pond, were completed in 2009. Plans are underway to restore the Barn and build a serenity garden for weddings and other functions. A swimming pool is part of our long term plan.
